Protection of weapons in extreme conditions

Changes in temperature, humidity and dust give the guns a hard time. Learn how to give them reliable protection.

The gun won't rust in the safe, but in use

Shooters know well that a gun is a tool and every tool needs regular maintenance. Whether you hunt, sport shoot, or own a gun for self-defense, you have one thing in common - you want it to work flawlessly, even years later. And corrosion, dust, gunpowder residue and moisture are the biggest enemies of reliability.

Why protection is important

Corrosion isn't just caused by neglect. All it takes is a humid day at the range, sweat from the palm of your hand, or a transition from a heated room to freezing temperatures and the gun will begin to oxidize. Long-term consequences:

  • Loss of accuracy
  • Mechanisms jamming
  • Permanent damage to the barrel or breech
  • Impairment of the weapon

Therefore, regular maintenance after each use is essential, especially in extreme conditions.

Cleaning, lubrication, preservation: the 3 phases of gun care

1) Cleaning
Remove any residues of dust, carbon, lead or copper. Use a specialised gun cleaner. Dissolves dirt while protecting metal parts.

2) Lubrication
Apply a thin layer of a product that does not trap dust or freeze on moving parts. Ideal is Brunox Turbo-Spray, which displaces moisture, lubricates and at the same time forms a fine protective film.

3) Preservation
If the gun is not used for a long time (e.g. over winter), apply a protective film with a long-lasting effect. Turbo-Spray creates a transparent layer that does not become brittle and protects even in changing conditions.

Introduction of Brunox Gun Care and Turbo-Spray

Brunox Gun Care

  • Special ammonia-free formula
  • Suitable for all metal and moving parts of the gun
  • Dissolves lead, copper, carbon and gunpowder residues
  • Does not leave a greasy film, antistatic
  • Used by brands such as CZ, SIG Sauer, Glock

Use: Apply with a spray or cloth on the surface to be cleaned, leave for a while, finish cleaning with a brush or swab. No need to rinse.

Brunox Turbo-Spray

  • Multifunctional spray with Turboline additive
  • Displaces moisture, lubricates, protects against corrosion
  • Does not contain silicone or graphite
  • Also suitable for external parts, screws, hinges, springs
  • NSF H2 certified - also safe for food contact (e.g. with hunting guns)

Light sprayingon moving parts. In a thin layer is sufficient for winter preservation.

Practical tips: What the shooting community says

  • Do not dry clean the gun. Brushing without lubricant can cause micro-scratches in the barrel.
  • Do not leave the gun in the holster for extended periods of time. Even microdampness in a cloth holster can cause pitting corrosion.
  • Moisture from snow is a common problem for hunters. When you return home , wipe the gun dry and treat with Turbo-Spray.
  • For small arms and percussion weapons, use Brunox Gun Care on the trigger guard as well. It stays smooth and jam-free.
  • Do not coat the gun in the case with a thick layer. A spray once every two months is sufficient, ideally after a thorough cleaning.
